Car crime operation officers 'could be anywhere'

Motorists taking to the road illegally could find themselves in trouble with the law as part of an initiative from officials in Bolton.

According to the Bolton News, Operation Giant is a three-month programme intended to rid local highways of those without road tax or car insurance.

The news source stated that 16 vehicles were seized by officers as part of the crackdown - seven without cover and 16 for not displaying the appropriate documentation.

Senior Car Insurance

Older motorists who are found to be taking to the road in an illegal fashion may find that their senior car insurance policies become compromised.

This is because cover firms often refuse to offer cheaper deals to those who have such a conviction - viewing them as a risk to insure.

Furthermore, drivers should be warned that Sergeant Brian Orr has stated that officers "could be absolutely anywhere in Bolton as part of this operation", it added.

Having a car seized over the festive period could prove to be particularly problematic for some.

According to research from Abbey, 18 per cent of people use their vehicles in which to store Christmas presents.
