Brake sets young driver deaths in its sights
Road safety group Brake is looking to reduce the number of deaths among young people on the road.
The organisation has got together with Cheshire county council in an effort to cut down the fatality rate the county's youth has experienced.
In 2005, Brake states that 222 people between the ages of 15 and 25 were killed in road traffic conditions.
This could explain why young people are often charged more for their vehicle cover deals, as opposed to more experienced people who can pick up improved senior car insurance.
Sarah Collins from Brake will host a presentation on the issue to sixth-form students at Falibroome High School in Macclesfield.
"I hope that by teaching young people about the consequences of speeding, drink and drug driving and not belting up, I can make real difference to road safety in Cheshire," she said.
This week, Brake stated that a number of motorists are risking their lives by taking to the road despite their wheels not being up to scratch.
According to the group, two out of three motorists are unaware of the legally-required tyre tread depth.
